Convention Premiums

This year, there will be two different convention sets that will ignite the imaginations of both Vintage and Real American Hero collectors. These sets will be a great addition to anyone's collection and will be cherished for years to come!

The 12” two figure set commemorates one of the longest running conflicts of WWII, the Battle of Britain. This set consists of a German Henkel bomber pilot and a British Hurricane fighter pilot. Both pilots come dressed in their Service Dress uniforms. The set will come boxed in the same convention style Photo Box with artwork from Larry Selman (current Hasbro artist) and all of their flight gear will come sewn in a Window Box with artwork by Sam Petrucci (original Hasbro artist from the 1960s). The figures are the 40th Anniversary body.

The German Service Dress uniform consists of the following: Side Cap, Black Dress Shoes, Service Dress Shirt w/tie, pre-1940 pattern Fliegerbluse, Belt, and Service Dress Trousers. The German flight gear consists of: LKPS 100 Flight Helmet w/throat microphone, HM50 Model 1067 Oxygen Mask, Gloves, Sommerfliegerkombi Flying Suit, Kapok Life Jacket, Model 306 Fliegerschutzbrille Goggles, Double Zipper Flight Boots, Leuchtpistole, Signal Flares, Flare Belt, Ruckenfallschirm (Parachute Pack) and Map.

The British Service Dress uniform consists of: Side Cap, Crew Neck Sweater, Service Dress Tunic, Belt, Service Dress Pants, and Black Dress Shoes. The British flight gear consists of: White Prestige Flight Suit, Dress Shoes, 1932 Pattern Mae West, Scarf, Mark II Goggles, Type B Flight Helmet with Type D Oxygen Mask, C-2 Seat Pack Parachute and Map.
In addition, the set comes with a WWII era radio complete with sound bites from Edward R. Murrow's BBC radio report from the top of a British building during one of the battles. This is the most authentic Battle of Britain set ever made!

This set continues the 40th Anniversary lineage and is fabulous. No G.I. Joe or WWII collector should be without this set! It will make a great addition to your collection. Only 500 sets are available, so don't delay in placing your order.*

This year's 3 3/4” set is entitled General Mayhem: M.A.R.S. Invades! The story goes like this: Destro (an international arms dealer) is always expanding his M.A.R.S. (Military Armaments Research Systems) Corporation to create new weapon's factories all around the world. He has set his sights on several secret industrial complexes in the former Soviet Union and is using his inside man (General Mayhem, a former Spetsnaz officer and brilliant strategist), to execute his plan. With his new Iron Grenadiers and elite brigade of Iron Anvil Paratroopers led by Metal Head, Destro's forces have invaded this former Soviet Bloc toy factory and plan to ship weapon's systems under the toy brand of Destr-uct-o Blocs. Under this cover, they believe that they will be able to distribute their products globally, unnoticed by the western world. It is up to the G.I. Joe team to stop this dastardly plan. Who will win this urban struggle? What Joes will respond? Only time will tell…

This set comes with Destro in his new high powered battle armor; a new Iron Grenadier leader, General Mayhem; Destro's trusty Lieutenant Metal Head; along with six new and improved Iron Grenadiers and six of Destro's latest airborne assault paratroopers, the Iron Anvils!*

So, to recap this outstanding offer, you get fifteen different figures with weapons and accessories. This set comes in the same style illustrated box as the past two years' sets and will make a terrific display with your existing collection. Don't wait to place your order. This set is limited to 750 editions.*

Spend any time at all in Minneapolis and smiling will be unavoidable. Voted the best in the USA for dozens of things, the ongoing results span the gamut. This place is fun for families of all age combinations.

Of course, the BIGGEST attraction is the Mall of America. It has become globally recognized as the largest entertainment and retail complex in the U.S. Welcoming over 42 million guests each year, the Mall of America is one of the nation's #1 attractions. The Mall of America has over 500 specialty stores and 4 national department stores, including Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears. How big is it? Well, seven Yankee Stadiums could fit inside the Mall of America. It has almost twice as much steel as the Eiffel Tower. It is over half a mile around one level of the mall and has an amusement park in the center. Camp Snoopy is the largest indoor family theme park in the nation. In addition, it is the home of Underwater Adventures, the world's largest underground aquarium. There is no sales tax on clothing, so, shop'til you drop.

Besides the static aircraft and vintage vehicles the museum owns, we are also flying in a Corsair for you to inspect! This will be a great evening and we want you to wear either your favorite G.I. Joe costume or your favorite military uniform. Dinner will be a buffet and we will have a 1940's swing band playing during the evening for your enjoyment.

Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force

The Minnesota Wing maintains museum displays in several different forms. The home base of operations is a museum all by itself. One of the few surviving original WWII hangars, the building looks very much like it did during the beginning of WWII when it was built by the Navy.

Their hangar not only protects and displays the aircraft, but it also houses numerous original artifacts which are always on display. They maintain and restore a growing fleet of military and civilian vehicles ranging from trucks to staff cars to jeeps which can be seen at the hangar and also at parades or special events.

The Minnesota Wing is blessed to have the possession of seven great aircraft which served in World War II and in many cases, beyond. The Wing's historic fleet of flying aircraft covers a wide range of interests, including the B-25 Mitchell medium bomber, the extremely rare P-51C Mustang, two PBY Catalina flying boats, the BT-13 Valiant basic trainer, the Harvard Mk IV advanced trainer and the L-5 Sentinel liaison aircraft.

Pre-Convention Tours

The week will begin with two pre-convention tours. Sign-up today! Your whole family will enjoy these outings. If you sign up for the Thursday tour, you will pick up your registration materials on Wednesday night from 8:30pm-10pm.

Wednesday, June 22, 9:30am - 8:45pm –- The Mall of America

In 1986, the Ghermezian brothers signed a historic agreement with the Bloomington Port Authority to develop the nation's largest retail and entertainment complex, which followed their completion of the world's largest retail and entertainment mall, West Edmonton Mall. The Mall of America was born.

With over 520 specialty stores adjacent to Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears, the Mall of America has simply changed the way we shop. It has become the model for combining signature attractions with retail to create an outstanding entertainment venue and is now one of the most visited destinations in the United States. Besides the A.C.E.S. flight simulators, here are some of the other attractions in the mall:

•Camp Snoopy
Camp Snoopy in the Mall of America is the nation's largest indoor family theme park with more than 30 rides and seven acres of fun.
•Underwater Adventures
Voted "World's Best Shark Encounter" by Discovery.com! Touch real sharks and stingrays at Minnesota's largest aquarium!
•America Live
America Live offers five unique bars and restaurants on the fourth level of the Mall of America. Enjoy food, dancing, sports, pool, darts, foosball, games and a live dueling piano show, all in one venue.
•Jillian's Hi Life Lanes
State-of-the-art bowling at Jillian's includes a dozen bowling lanes, giant video screens, and much more!
•NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway
The roar of 700 horse-power engines and 195 mile per hour speeds are all part of this electrifying, high-tech indoor stock car racing competition.

Check it all out at mallofamerica.com.

So, you always wanted to fly that War Bird? Now you can!

A.C.E.S. F/A-18 AeroDome and the new WWII AeroDome both feature a large domed projection screen attached to the front of your cockpit. It gives you the effect of piloting your own Omni Theater. The cockpits are linked together so you can fly air combat against your friends. You can even rub it in over the radio, flying a victory roll over your enemy (now former friend) as he or she floats back to the ground in their parachute (simulated, of course).

These simulators, will let you do just about anything you can do in a real fighter, including landing on an Aircraft Carrier...maybe!

Check out the flight action at flyaces.com.

History and Science Tour

Historic Fort Snelling was an 1820s military outpost. Once the focus of a small settlement, it is now at the center of Minnesota's Twin Cities metropolitan area.

A full living history program with costumed guides is presented daily during the summer, and on weekends in May, September and October.

This restored stone fortress opens its gates to welcome you to frontier life. Imagine the year is 1827 (as costumed guides greet you) and you've just arrived via steamboat up the Mississippi River.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the past. Hear musket fire, the cannon's roar and the fife's shrill tunes. Take part in the fort's everyday life. Shoulder a musket, mend clothes, smell the stew, scrape a hide or sing along with the soldiers.

Take tea with Mrs. Snelling or sample the soldiers' bread ration. Swing a hammer in the blacksmith shop or barter with the sutler - but remember that his store is the only one for miles around!

The Fort's costumed guides demonstrate crafts, present historical skits and practice military drill and weapons firings. Join them in 1827 or explore other areas of the site's long history in the exhibits.

Here's your chance to experience the Science Museum of Minnesota's eight acres of indoor space, filled with awe-inspiring exhibits coupled with breathtaking views of the Mississippi River!

Experiment. Discover. Investigate. One-of-a-kind and larger-than-life Omnitheater films make the Science Museum of Minnesota a must-see destination for all ages. Explore exhibits on topics ranging from the human body to dinosaurs to weather. Prepare for a day of memorable science fun!

Cost: $40 per person
