Viva Las Vegas! Welcome to Fabulous Bratz!

By John Medeiros

"Party all night under the lights. Deck out and step out for a party in the streets, as you spend the weekend with the girls, in the city that never sleeps"

MGA has launched one of the glitziest Bratz series since the Formal Funk dolls. The "Welcome to Fabulous Bratz" collection is inspired by the unique glamour and excitement of Las Vegas. The packaging features classic casino and lounge style neon and lights. Signs from The Diamond Cafe, Cactus Spur, Sassy Lounge and Starlight Bowling decorate the box.

I was very happy to get the Tiana doll for review. Upon opening the box I was thrilled to see that she has deep red parted lips with teeth showing. This is something new to my personal Bratz collection and a fun variation on the closed-lip dolls I have. Her big brown eyes are highlighted with tons of glitter shadow. Her long hair is styled in a topknot ponytail with thick bangs. The scarlet streaked black hair tops off a totally coordinated and flashy look.

The outfits are over-the-top in the glitz and glitter department. The doll comes wearing skin tight hip hugger bell bottoms made of a metallic red snakeskin with silver stud detailing down the legs and an attached silver and rhinestone-look belt with oversized buckle. The black brazier style halter-top with silver dangle fringe is fantastic. Her faux fur is lush with black and white stripes. Silver dangle earrings complete the showgirl look. Her bag is made of a red glittery fabric that matched her pants with silver hinge and button details. Her feet have molded black and sand colored shoes.

Her other ensemble consists of a short black denim mini skirt with white hemmed detail and an outrageous attached belt of silver beads and headdress shaped pendant. The top is dark red glitter lame with black silver painted shoulder straps. Also included is a pair of tall black high-heeled boots.

Her accessories come attached to a Vegas style sign and include pink sunglasses, matching cell phone and big dangle earrings along with a red metallic bracelet and lipstick.

Keeping kids in the collecting loop, MGA has included a collectible key chain shaped as a playing card. The box also has a lucky horseshoe for its handle. As usual, the company has paid attention to every thematic detail. I am convinced that this kind of consistent quality control and design that has led to the enormous success this company is enjoying
