Those British Birds "Daisy & Willow" by Doug James and Laura Meisner have sold out the 1999 Collection. QVC bought the end of the run from Knickerbocker still has a few left , but hurry . Once these are gone, that's it for the 1999 line. The great news is that the first 2000 dolls have shipped from Asia and will be at your favorite doll dealer soon. If you liked last year's line…wait till you check the new groovy threads and gals out. And, according to Doug and Laura there will be a new Creole friend introduced this year as well.

The Official Chatty Cathy Collectors' Club will be having their annual Luncheon on October 20, 2000. This year it is being held at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. As an added treat, there is a huge doll show at EPCOT Theme park on October 21st. So, if you are a Chatty Cathy collector, you don't want to miss this one. Make a vacation out of it. Sadly, Miller's Fashion Doll Magazine has published their last issue. I am a longtime subscriber and Barb and Dan Miller's wonderful publication will really be missed. I looked forward to every issue. Doll Reader has bought the magazine and I understand that current subscribers will be getting copies of that magazine to fulfill their subscriptions. The good news is that Miller's great price guide will still be published this year.

"Twilight Rumba", Ashton Drake's 2000 Annual Edition Gene doll has been shipping this past week and the online reviews so far are great. This red headed beauty is dressed in a stunning beaded lilac sheath with matching top designed by Doug James. In my opinion, if I had one Gene doll to buy this year, this would be the one.

Some heartbreaking news out of Portland, OR…3 boxes of Portland "Vienna Ball" Tyler Wentworth dolls were stolen enroute to the Robert Tonner Event in that city. This doll was already a very limited edition of 400. Now there are even less dolls and more disappointed collectors.

The big Barbie news this week is that Harley Davidson Ken 2 is hitting the shelves and disappearing instantly. With his chest hair and tattoo, this is a really unique Ken doll. If you see him …grab him. The two new characters in the Generation Girl series are also doing very well with collectors. Mari is a techno-toy hip Japanese friend and Blaine is the smooth male D.J. in the group. Both come with tons of cool accessories that have become the hallmark of this series.
