D-DAY COLLECTION

In keeping with the G.I. JOE brand's tradition of commemorating historically-significant military events, Hasbro will introduce a line of four figures in the D-Day collection: OMAHA BEACH ARMY INFANTRY, British Royal Marine Commando, and Ernie Pyle. In the deluxe "Echo" collection, the Pointe du Hoc Army Ranger rounds out the lineup, complete with grappling hook launcher. (Approximate retail price: $19.99-29.99; recommended age: 5 & up; available in April)

· Ernie Pyle - Famed WWII Army correspondent who was known for writing the powerful stories of the courageous men on the frontlines of WWII. Outfitted with olive drab uniform, field jacket, black correspondent band, boots, typewriter, web belt, steel pot helmet, his signature "shovel," gas stove, and a reproduction of his most famous newspaper story. He landed hours after D-Day to report back heroic and real stories from the front lines.

· OMAHA BEACH ARMY INFANTRY - Typical infantry soldier that formed the backbone of the D-Day forces. Outfitted with olive drab fatigues, field jacket, steel pot helmet, boots, Browing Automatic Rifle (BAR), entrenching tool, web belt, canteen, ammo pouches, and assault gas bask bag. There will be three different "versions" of the Army Infantry figure representing the three main U.S. Army Divisions that landed at Omaha and Utah Beaches on June 6, 1944.

· British Royal Marine Commander - Allied soldier famous for the assault on Gold Beach on June 6, 1944. Outfitted with camouflage smock, pants, beret, helmet, boots, Vickers K gas-powered machine gun, web belt, ammo pouches, and a fighting knife with sheath.

· Pointe du Hoc U.S. Army Ranger - This Army Ranger figure represents the mission on D-Day for the Provisional Ranger Group to destroy the six 155mm German guns on Pointe du Hoc. The figure is outfitted in green fatigue shirt and pants and tan field jacket. Equipped for action at the steep Normandy cliff sides, the figure has a weapon and a mortar equipped with grappling hook and rope ladder.
