Police K-9 Unit A K-9 unit is like any other law enforcement team: it¹s made up of two partners who develop a close working relationship, back each other up in dangerous situations and expertly search for evidence at crime scenes. The officer and dog of a K-9 unit receive extensive and continual training at special K-9 training schools. Dogs are trained for a variety of jobs including detecting narcotics, explosives and accelerants. The training sleeve is used to teach K-9 dogs how to properly apprehend a suspect. In training, it¹s worn by a person other than the dog¹s partner, to represent the "suspect." Attacking is the last resort; dogs are trained to corner suspects and will not attack unless the suspect flees and the dog is ordered to attack. The K-9 dog is a dedicated and courageous officer who works selflessly to defend its partner and uphold the law. Equipment List: BDU shirt, BDU pants, Cap, Boots, Equipment belt, 9mm pistol with clip, Leash, Training sleeve, German Shepherd dog. Availability: October 2001.
