2001 Gene Marshall Collection Premier

The gala premier of the 2001 Gene Marshall Collection took place at FAO Schwarz in New York at 7 pm on Saturday Feb. 10. The new dolls and fashions for this season are spectacular with full collections for both Gene and Madra. Simply Gene 2001 has bendable arms as well as knees and there is a basic "Ultimately Madra" being added to the line.

The really exciting news is the confirmation of the rumor that a leading man will indeed join the Gene studio. Trent Osborn will be unveiled at Toy Fair tomorrow.

Standouts of the line for me are the new "Fox Film Classic" dolls and Gene as a Coca Cola pinup girl. The Fox line this year will consist of Gene in a costume from "Gentleman Prefer Blondes", Madra in a stunning costume from "All About Eve" and Trent in an Indian outfit from "The Rains Came".
The retirements for 2001 were announced by Joan Green and they include Sparkling Seduction, Red Venus, She'd Rather Dance, Savannah and suprisingly, Madra's First Encounter. Retiring costumes include Heartless, Pink With Envy, Sunset Celebration, Avant Garde, Black Ribbon, Crescendo, Personal Secretary, Cameo and Midnight Angel. Accessory sets being retired are "Picnic Basket", "Out for a Stroll" and "Birthday Party Set"
