& Bucks WWII Reenactments
The Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry is a World War II British reenacting group. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, their membership crosses the vast state. They are dedicated to preserving the past through collection and presentation of 1939 through 1945 uniforms, equipment and vehicles. As members of the Texas Military Historical Society (www.txmhs.org), they travel to public events, stage mock battles and teach through living history. They also stage historical wargames. Working side by side with Allied reeanctors they, once again, battle the Axis forces (this time for fun).
The impression this Unit depicts is that of Glider Trained Infantry around the Normandy Invasion time period. Initially on any operation, they all have essentially the same equipment and weapons (with the eception of some specialty troops) that were used some 50+ years ago.
The Axis reeanctors are members of the SS-Panzergrenadier Division, "Gotz von Berlichingen." They are also based in Texas, and members of the Texas Military Historical Society. The Society's purpose is to appear as WWII soldiers in living history displays at public show battles, parades, educational programs, and events, as well as private "tactical" battle reenactments. Safety and authenticity are foremost. Political motivations play no part in any aspect of the society or its activities.
