Doll News May 20. 2002 By John Medeiros The Monster Demands a Mate And Sideshow Delivers!
Sideshow Toy has just released their 12" figure of Elsa Lanchester as The Bride of Frankenstein. The figure features over 20 points of articulation, the white flowing gown and wrapped arms, an electrical heart monitor and clear heart containment vessel, and cobblestone display base. The figure is packed in a full color box that features a replica of the original movie poster on the front flap. The figure is sculpted by Mat Falls and as usual, he has captured the likeness of the actor perfectly. The profile is particularly uncanny. Her highly articulated body allows for dramatic posing and her costume is a study in magnificent simplicity. One of Sideshow Toys trademarks is the inclusion of fun and detailed character accessories. This doll is no exception. Her realistic human heart in containment vessel with electrical monitor will make you want to build her an entire lab. The Bride is being produced in a limited edition and according to the companys website, orders have spiked and reserved quantities are low. You might want to order her fast. www.sideshowtoy.com
The ensemble looks great as it is-right out of the box. Or, the pieces make great separates when paired with other garments from the collection. Try the white top and lime scarf with the gold lame pants from Continental Holiday. As usual the quality is top notch and the set includes many fine details that collectors have come to expect from the line. The outfit retails for about $45, but can be ordered from many doll dealers for less if you shop around.
